1 more weekend + 4 more nights = 2 dozen diapers

As I sit here watching former "reality" stars sucking down earth worms in that other "reality" show Fear Factor, I am marveled at how we are entertained by such grotesquery, yet Alex's diapers are still so potent. Maybe the stamp of the past few days has been Alexander's ongoing "Party in his pants". He found his appetite, his appetite found his diapers, and we are continually invited to a wonderful party at least 8 times a day. When he scrunches up that little face all tight, just giving him a pointer finger to suck on is like a little switch that turns on the refrain that was passed on to us through Eddie Murphy by the late Rick James: "Our boy has a party in his pants, party in his pants, party in his pants..."

But here is the payoff with his amazing "cluster feeding" - he has slept at least 5 hours straight for the past four nights. The little Miracle Drug that has made his sleeping better is a little drop of Simethicone (apple and banana flavored). "Just a drop of simethicone helps the flatulence, stay down..."

Brenna also made her first outing to the Promised Land - aka. Walmart. It was the first time away since she was admitted to the hospital. Never did we think that freedom and Walmart would be so synonymous.

So now we are in another snowstorm. Hanging out with a warm little soul.

Just look at that face.

Sleeping like mommy.

The doctor, the swing, and the bottle

Each day has a bunch of new experiences for all of us. Each one turns the relatively mundane into the potentially wonderous. Yesterday we made our first visit to the pediatrician. After an interesting adventure finding the place (it was in a small plaza behind a bank which is kind of odd) we had our first checkup. The doctor reviewed the feeding schedule and gave him a good once over. The verdict: "He's a good baby. Keep doing what you are doing." The moral of this little vignette is that we may suck at finding things, but we got an A+ in parenting for the first week. So we traded being directionally-challenged with being good parents. Good thing that the spirit of all things relative has proven to use that our priorities are adjusting in the right direction!

Later that day we tested the little man on the swing. Judging by the amount that he slept, I think we will need to buy D batteries in bulk. Here we come Costco!

Finally, mom made the first bottle ever so that we could just how much intake this little body was getting. It was also a chance for daddy to participate in theone thing he could not do. He was very happy as you can see from the picture.

Just as Einstein revolutionized science by proving that the entire universe moves relative to the speed of light, our little universe now moves relative to the happiness of a little boy... Sure, we are not as bright as Einstein, but you just have to be bright enough to raise a good kid. Oh, and E=MC2 doesn't do much for colic either.

What color do you think Alex's eyes will be?

Welcome!

Hi all! We decided that this would be the easiest way to update all of you on how we are doing with the little one. But who are we kidding, all you really need are some pictures. So I posted a bunch of them today in chronologically descending order. If you click on the picture it will open a larger picture that you can save if you wish.

As I am writing this and as I posted each one of them mommy has been sleeping and little Alexander has been laying on my lap just kind of staring around...and yes, farting like a champ! But this also means plenty of cute smiles for daddy.

So enjoy. I will be posting periodically so come back often!

My first bottle. I liked it alot!

Ahhhh... Now this is what it's all about. Sleeping on daddy's tummy.

Pacify...

...Or not, to pacify. That is the question.

So this bath idea may be a little overrated, wait... Where are my clothes!

First bath. He is already getting ready for his first swim lesson. Hold your nose kid!

This was all we did on Sunday. We were up every hour on the hour Saturday night. My my what a gaseous boy we have. This is the only way Drew could give mom a break. He didn't complain.

Fussy wussy was a bear... When he gets all fussy we call him Sasha Fussman, or Fuss-man.

Child birth is rough on mommy and baby alike. Nothing like sleeping it off at home though.

Away we go!

The weigh in.

Alexander Michael Tatusko's first ever picture! We he arrived, he did not really say a whole lot. It was kind of like he was saying, "Oh, so this is what it's like. So what's all the fuss about?"
